Roots Montessori: Rebranding a nursery without losing a single parent searching for them

Roots Montessori is a preschool and nursery group with three branches across IMPZ, JVC, and International City in the UAE. In early 2024, they made the decision to rebrand completely, a new name, a new website, new domain. Rebrands are one of the highest-risk SEO events a business can go through. Done wrong, years of search visibility disappear overnight.

The challenge

What we did

Redirected the old domain cleanly (Migration)

301 redirects were set up from kidsworduae.com to rootsmontessoriuae.com, ensuring any existing authority and traffic from the old domain carried across to the new one. This also captured parents who'd found the old brand and were still searching for it.

Expanded keyword targeting (Keywords)

Scope expanded from basic local SEO to a broader keyword strategy — targeting nursery and preschool terms across all three locations, Montessori-specific searches, and deliberately targeting old brand keywords on the new site to recapture that audience.

Blog and content to build authority (Content)

A regular blog content strategy was introduced to build topical authority around Montessori education, early childhood development, and nursery life in Dubai — giving parents more reasons to find and trust the brand organically.

Ongoing SEO health monitoring (Technical)

Continuous technical SEO across the new site, ensuring the new domain was properly indexed, crawlable, and structured for local search across three branch locations in the UAE.

Roots were previously operating as Kids World UAE (kidsworduae.com) — a name that didn't reflect their Montessori identity or their ambitions as a growing multi-branch nursery group. The rebrand to rootsmontessoriuae.com was the right move for the brand, but it came with significant SEO risk.

Any domain change means Google has to re-evaluate the site from scratch. Rankings can drop. Traffic can disappear. Parents searching for the old brand name get lost. The job was to make sure none of that happened.

The SEO risk of a domain rebrand

Changing domains means losing the authority built on the old URL, potentially dropping rankings across all keywords, and losing any parents who'd bookmarked or previously found the old site. Without a careful redirect strategy and brand keyword targeting, a rebrand can effectively restart a site's SEO from zero.

The results

A year on from the rebrand, Roots Montessori has significantly more visibility, more traffic, and, most importantly, more parents finding them and taking action.

The rebrand didn't cost them — it launched them

Most businesses fear rebranding because of the SEO risk. In this case, the rebrand became the catalyst for a complete SEO uplift. The new brand name, properly supported with a redirect strategy, keyword targeting, and content, gave Roots Montessori a stronger foundation than they had before.

The takeaway

Rebrands don't have to be scary for SEO. With the right redirect strategy, smart keyword targeting across old and new brand terms, and consistent content to build authority on the new domain, a rebrand can be a launchpad, not a setback.
